  Cable Security Systems

Do You Dare To Compare Your

Security Vendor or Products?

Cable Lock Size and Type:  Some companies use inexpensive small luggage type brass locks or undersized locks that are easy to cut or break.  Are your lock sizes at least 34 mm or larger?  Can you get them keyed alike at no extra charge?

Cable Thickness :  Just because they look thick doesn’t mean the cable inside is thick.  Many companies use thick plastic coatings over thin cables.  This gives them appearance of being thick but are much easier to cut and cheaper to manufacture.  Look at the end of the cable.  Is the end fitting small?  Can you see the true cable size? Are the fitting made of soft brass or steel? Can you get custom lengths?

Construction of Product:  Does the adhesive cover the whole lockdown pad bottom or are they just strips of adhesive? Can you bend the metal or is it very stiff? Do the parts fit snug and tight?  Does is lock like a cheap hinge or does it screw in for more security? Can you get them keyed alike at no extra charge?

Complete Solution or Partial Solution:  Does your security devices secure everything?  Does it prevent theft of internal components of the computer (memory, CPU, hard drives)?  Does it secure the mouse and/or keyboard?  What about the monitor?

Custom Solutions: Can you get customized solutions or is it one size fits all? Do you get charged to have everything keyed alike? Are you offered custom sizes or lengths?  Are the enclosures adjustable?

Fast and Cost Effective:  How long does it take to do the work once the Purchase Order is received?  Does your current vendor work around your hours?Does it take forever to get the products? Is the product or installation cost excessive?

Computer Security cables

This could be a Dell, Hewlett Packard or other computer with a LCD monitor that has a built-in micro security slot. This cable system uses a extra thick aircraft grade 5/16 cable with a vinyl coating that secures the Monitor, the case opening thought the case loop, keyboard and mouse using a cable trap either to the furniture using a adhesive attachment point or loop depending how you want to connect to the furniture.

Security cables for computers

This image gives you a closer look a the way this cable connects to the back of a computer (image shows a Dell computer). No glue or adhesive is used when connecting to the case. It uses the loop provided by the manufacturer of the computer case. The keyboard and mouse cables are secured through the cable trap to prevent theft of these items. If your case does not have a loop we have other methods to connect to the case. The whole idea is to prevent the opening of the case if at all possible so heard drives, memory and CPU chips will not disappear.

The majority Laptops come with a micro-slot to connect security cables. The main difference between one brand of cables and another is the thickness of the cable and the strength of the lock. Simply put the thick the cable the better protection offered. The weak point in most systems beyond the cable thickness is not the lock but how well the manufacturer of the laptop build the micro-slot. Is the slot re-enforced?

Printer paper drawer locks

Do you have problems with lost toners or ink cartridges? Them this is a solution - cable tray lock. Its simple, inexpensive and works. This same system could secure a printer, phone, or other device to the furniture. The picture shows a cable securing a drawer. If you ant to secure a device to the furniture then just glue (requires special glue) a plate to the desk or use a looper to wrap around a secure object.
